Getting ready for Thanksgiving

Well, Thanksgiving is next week but due to the fire dept changing back to their original schedule of 24 hour shifts, Joel has to work. Not a big deal as we are use to this sort of thing. We just tend to celebrate a day early. In this case, we are celebrating a week early. We are having our Irish friends, Liz and Don and their kids come over on Sat for a big Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. They have never had a proper American Thanksgiving dinner so I am going to make sure they get the whole kit and caboodle. I just bought a 19 1/2 pound turkey and let me just say, that sucker was HEAVY. It is defrosting as we speak. I still have a few more items to get, but I think all in all, it'll turn out great. I just love the smell of everything cooking. Really gets me in the holiday spirit. I just hope I get all the "insides" out of the turkey as I have been known to leave them inside in the past thinking I had gotten them all. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

An Attempt to blog

Well, here I go, my first attempt at blogging. Sounded like a good idea as a way to keep our family and friends updated on us while we are still overseas. Plus, gives me a chance to write which is something that I love to do. I hope that you all take the time to read the blogs and comment on them as a way of letting me know if this is a good idea or not. So, here goes.... :)
